Karibu (which means “Welcome” in Swahili) is a newly renovated house right on the soft white sands of beautiful Bang Por beach in Northwest Samui. After an extensive renovation, the two storey house has a shaded terrace overlooking the sea, an en-suite bedroom downstairs and two light and airy bedrooms upstairs. Many of the items in the house were sourced in Bali, with the colours being predominantly turquoise, white and light grey.
Bang Por Beach is one of Samui’s hidden treasures. Situated on the glorious north west corner of Samui, it is relatively undeveloped and has excellent sand quality. Swimming is possible year round and it is very safe (no unexpected deep ledges or drop offs!) Fishermen bring in their catch right onto the beach and often you can see them wading out into waist high waters as they fish.
Karibu Beach House sits at the western end of the beach, close to an excellent beachside tapas bar (La Playa) and also a great beach club with a beachside infinity pool, Music Beach. There are several great seafood restaurants within 200 metres of the house. Across the road are several authentic small Thai restaurants that serve great food for take away or eat in. There is also an Italian restaurant just down the road called Celli’s.
The drive from the airport takes around 30 minutes, and on the way you will pass through the small coastal town of Maenam.
Karibu is located on the island’s ring road. As such, it can sometimes be busy during the day. To minimise any noise, steps have been taken like building walls and installing plant pots and bamboo. There is a gate to the house main area making it a completely safe compound for families.
